A Brief History of Snoofi

1. Reddit: the original front page of the internet

Long before TikTok feeds and algorithmic timelines, there was Reddit — a single page of links voted up by humans. Subreddits became the bulletin boards of the modern web, and at the top of every one of them sat Snoo, the friendly alien mascot designed by co-founder Alexis Ohanian back in 2005.

For two decades Snoo watched over every shitpost, every AMA, every market panic, and every "to the moon" thread. He saw it all.

2. The birth of Snoofi

Original Snoofi prototype

Before the polished mascot we know today, Snoofi shipped as a rough prototype: a sit-down sketch with two glowing red eyes and a crooked little antenna. The community took one look at this beta build and said "yes. that one. that's our dog."

Snoofi is the dog that Snoo always deserved. White fur, red eyes, the same wobbly antenna sticking out of his head. He started as community fan art — a dog version of Snoo posted to a meme sub — and within weeks he was everywhere: avatars, stickers, banner art, the works.

3. Doge, Shiba & the first meme-coin wave

Reddit didn't just spectate the meme-coin era — it created it. r/dogecoin turned a Shiba Inu joke into a multi-billion dollar market cap. Shiba Inu, Floki, every dog coin that mattered — Reddit threads were ground zero. The template was simple: a friendly animal, a good community, and the front page of the internet to spread it.

Snoofi continues that lineage with the missing piece: the dog wasn't just on the coin, he was already on Reddit itself.

4. WallStreetBets, GameStop & Roaring Kitty

In January 2021, a hedge-fund-killing miracle happened on Reddit. r/wallstreetbets, rallied by a man named Keith Gill — Roaring Kitty — executed the most famous short squeeze in retail history on $GME. Melvin Capital bled. Citadel scrambled. Apes held the line.

The world finally understood what Reddit had always been: a coordination layer for regular people, with enough memes and enough conviction to move markets.

5. Dumb Money — the movie that proved Reddit moves markets

Hollywood made a movie about it. Dumb Money (2023) dramatized the GME saga and put Roaring Kitty's headband and cat shirt on the silver screen. For the first time, the mainstream had to admit: Reddit isn't a sideshow, it's the show.

6. Why we're returning to tradition with $SNOOFI

Meme coins drifted away from where they were born. The Telegram era, the launchpad era, the bot-farm era — none of it is Reddit. $SNOOFI is the return to tradition. A community-first coin, born on Reddit, mascotted by Reddit's own dog, run by the same kinds of degens who held GME through the dip.

We're not promising anything except this: a real community, a real mascot, and the same dumb-money energy that built every meme coin worth remembering.
